The Mom Behind the Curtain

Hi there! I'm Amanda Bond - founder of Boobbatical and advocate for working moms.

My background

I spent the past decade in the corporate world delivering corporate communications and employee engagement strategies. My career led me from a catchall position for a small Human Resources team in the juvenile products industry to a transformation communications role for a $43 billion acquisition in the fintech industry. While on that journey, I discovered my passion for building bridges between business objectives and employee mindset. It's incredibly rewarding to create clarity and foster a sense of belonging.

Why Boobbatical?

I left the corporate world in 2022 when our second daughter arrived. I, like many working moms out there, felt torn between two worlds. I loved my job and the people I spent my weekdays with but I desperately wanted to enjoy our little one's babyhood. More importantly, I quickly rediscovered the challenges of supporting a breastfed baby while working full time. The stress of pumping throughout the day, preparing bottles for daycare, and keeping up with the demands at work quickly consumed me after maternity leave was up. I didn't like the person it turned me in to: I wasn't able to deliver the same standards I expected of myself at work, I was snapping at our 5-year-old for silly things, and my husband had to carefully navigate daily emotional outbursts. Fortunately, I had the support and financial means to quit my job and prioritize my mental wellbeing so I did.

  • Was it scary? Yes.
  • Do I miss the buzz of the workplace? A little, yeah.
  • Do I regret the decision? Absolutely not.

Having the extra time to nurse our little one without the stress of working full time means the world to me. I want other working moms to have an opportunity to do the same, without the fear of facing financial hardship or derailing their career. That's where Boobbatical comes in. I hope to create more support for nursing moms in the workplace through education, resources, and one-on-one transformation support.
